Hey Girls!

Want you to know I have not forgotten about us. The last month (or has it been two?) has been very busy. It was good seeing everyone. Hope we all keep in touch and get together again.

I also have not forgotten about our original intention - the documentary. It's just that at this point we really cannot go much further without more information from the senior group and the individual interviews. We have enough pictures and good insight from the junior group. Maybe we should just focus on that generation. Just a thought.

I've categorized pictures and a friend of mine is working on transferring photos to video. In my spare time I'll continue to work on the photos and information from the questionnaire from the junior group.

Otherwise all is well. I'll have to get back into the facebook scene to get updated. Take care. Keep in touch and if you are ever in SF...

thanks for the fun time

Back in SF after a very long day yesterday. Due to bad weather in the bay area, my flight was delayed almost four hours.

Enjoyed seeing the family. It has been a long time for some of us. I hope we stay in touch and make the "Giovanianna's Girls" an annual event.

Special thanks to the junior girls for setting things up- finding the place...the food...the alcohol...the pictures...and coming from far away places.

And thanks to the senior cast for going along with the plan and to Cuz Cookie for running around with last minute preparations.

Little ones...keep dancing!

Party Pictures

For the girls who do not have a facebook account...get one today and see the pictures from our party. Does anyone know if we can link this blog to our facebook group?

New Month Brings Good Times

Hello Girls,

Probably my last post on this blog since most of us are now part of the facebook group. We just need Lori, Roseann, and Emily to get facebook accounts. Do you think that will EVER HAPPEN?

January was a quiet month. Thank God. I was so happy that Roseann and Leah decided to visit. It was a short trip but a very nice one. It's always fun showing people, especially family, around SF. Reminds me why I live here since most of the time I am complaining about something. I think they are hooked on the "city by the bay" and need to come back for a week or so in order to really explore the city.

February brings lots of birthdays.

Feb 5 - Jenna Castori (Sara and Mike's daughter)
Feb 6 - Uncle Richie
Feb 10 - Leah, Uncle Phil
Feb 12 - Luke Faletra (Kristie and Anthony's son)
Feb 21 - Roseann

Which leads to the party. I hope we are not intruding on your birthday Roseann but it was the second requested date outside of December and we all know what happened with that month :-(

I am so happy to see the positive response from the younger generation and the constant emails on facebook. Guess it is time for us to pass the torch!

Here's the scoop...

DATE
February 21, 2009

LOCATION

The moms (with young kids) really want the party to be in a place where they do not have to worry about the kids and can spend time with their cousins.

Sara is able to rent either the Italian-American club or the American Legion.

TIME
We can have an afternoon or evening event. We will have the place from 1 pm to around 8-9 pm. Please let us know what works best for you and we will go with what the group decides. Maybe smack in the middle around 3 or 4 pm...?

FOOD
Joey (Fioriello) can help us plan the food order since he works at a place that caters food.

BOOZE
Anthony will help with the wine.

PARTY GOODS
JoAnne will pick up paper goods.

I'm not even sure what we need but if anyone wants to take on something, please do. We need all the help we can get!

I also priced a few restaurants and the cost is more (or the very most equal) but at one of the clubs we have flexibility with the time and space for the little ones to run around.

I will send out an official evite this weekend so we can get a final count. Although the get together was initiated by "the girls" they also felt strongly about inviting all the Fioriello's, Iaboni's and Speruzzi's and their loved ones (friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, partners...whatever)

I am also sending an invitation to our boys (Joey Fioriello, Joseph Messina Jr., Mark Messina, Austin Rampa, Dylan Rampa - I don't know if Nicholas is part of the big boy group yet) because we want them to know that they are one of the girls.

We are also sending a special gentle push to Gail. I know it is a difficult time. Joe would have loved to come to an event like this...even more so why we need Gail. She is family. Also Rosemary and Phillip...there are not many of us, everyone is important.

And if we have a big snow storm. Oh well, we try again.

Originally I was coming in for two weeks but I'm now down to a week. I have two workshops the following month (Need to hand over this project to the younger girls and start spending my time on work!) and have to go home to prepare for the beginning of March and take care of the puppies. I arrive on Saturday, head up to Boston the following day for Luke's birthday and maybe a stop at the Boston Public Schools on Monday. Back to NY for the rest of the week and leave on Sunday.

Can't wait to see everyone!

only the best for 2009

Hello Girls!

Let's face it . 2008 was a challenging year especially the last few months. In addition to losing my brother Joey in October, we also lost Uncle Phil and Uncle Richie in December. Not to mention the general doom and gloom regarding the economy. I'm happy the year is over.

I have very fond memories of both my uncles. They were an active part of our lives growing up. Uncle Phil was a man of few words but when he talked we jumped! Uncle Richie was always around to help out with whatever was needed.

I still find it difficult to believe that my brother is gone. It has given me a new understanding of how fragile life is and how important it is to never put things off until tomorrow.

Which leads to our party? First things first. We must confirm the date and get a commitment from all girls to attend. Respond to the new poll. After we establish the date, we can decide the details.

January happenings-
7th-Dylan Rampa's birthday
11th- anniversary of "new teeth"
21st-John Miller's birthday (Jennifer's hubby)

The younger girls are on facebook which is good because it will now force me to get involved. We should all get an account and use it as our way to communicate. We can also set up a group.

The Giovanianna's Girls are entitled to a break. Good things are around the corner. 2009 will be the year to mend and enjoy our friends and family. Think fun. Start with a party in February!

P.S.
Feb. 21st is also Roseann's birthday. It was the only Saturday in February that people voted for. We can reconsider the date or include a birthday cake in our celebration! That is if Roseann does not have plans...
